Seachtain na Gaeilge

This week, the school hosted the Annual Seachtain na Gaeilge. We had our siopadóireacht as Gaeilge on Tuesday, Bingo as Gaeilge on Wednesday in addition to our Irish storytelling. The Siopa Gaelach’ sold jellies, bars and crisps. Your children enjoyed purchasing the treats while practising their Irish words and phrases. The 6th class performed an Irish version of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ for all classes. They did an excellent job and the sketch was very well received by all of the audiences that came to see this production. Well done to Ms Van Eesbeck and the 6th class for all of their work on the events throughout the week. More details will be put on the school website: www.avocaschool.ie and the Avoca National School Facebook page later in the week.

The children of 1st class made leprechaun masks in Art in celebration of St Patrick's Day this week. They also performed the poem I'm a Little Leprechaun for Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 2nd class. Maith sibh!
