In late 2021, our school was selected to be part of a Department of Education and Youth project in Ireland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), supported by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funding under its Recovery and Resilience Facility. Our school received grant funding to implement initiatives to address the digital divide and the needs of learners at risk of educational disadvantage.

Avoca NS received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.  As part of this project, our school has now been provided with high-speed broadband connectivity through the Department of Education’s Schools Broadband Programme. This significant upgrade enhances our digital learning environment and supports both teaching and administration.

Thanks to the ICT NRRP Funding, we were able to provide:

  • New IPADS and laptops were purchased to support learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a result of the digital divide

We have used the equipment for:

  • We have completed many STEAM projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) including classes participating in the Primary Science Fair in the RDS, film making, assessment using technology and as a tool for pupils to research topics.
