🌟 Creative Fun in 2nd Class! 🌟 Yesterday, our 2nd class had an amazing taster pottery lesson with the talented Christine as part of the Creative Schools Programme. πŸŽ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ The students got stuck in, creating their very own mugs or pencil holders and designing unique islands from clay. πŸŒ‹πŸοΈ The creativity and focus were fantastic, and we can’t wait to see the finished pieces once they’re fired! Big thanks to Christine for inspiring our young artists. πŸ–€ Stay tuned for the final creations! #creativeschools #potteryfun #littleartists #secondclass

Senior Infants enjoyed Science Week. They worked in groups to test a variety of materials to to see how well they resisted water. Afterwards they designed raincoats and used waterproof materials! Senior infants were mindful of the cold weather last week and wanted to care for the wildlife. They created bird feeders and placed them outside around the school grounds.
Science Week: πŸ‘©‍πŸ”¬πŸ‘¨‍πŸ”¬πŸ‘©‍πŸ”¬πŸ‘¨‍πŸ”¬ This week 4th and 5th Class have been busy conducting some experiments. Check out what happens when you mix vinegar and bicarbonate of soda together. πŸ§ͺ We also looked at capillary action in our Walking Water experiment as well as testing to see if an avocado seed will germinate above ground if touching water. 🌱 Our Growing Mould experiment began on Tuesday. This experiment requires patience, making predictions and observation skills as we wait to see which bread will go mouldy first – water, sugar water, vinegar or nothing added. πŸ₯ͺ We also examined the effect of toothpaste on eggs when submerged in orange juice and Coca-Cola. We found there was a slight reduction in discolouration of the eggs if they were covered with toothpaste. πŸ§‘‍πŸ”¬ Our jelly bears helped us learn about osmosis and acidity. One bear spent the day in water, one in vinegar and one was used as a control experiment. The water-submerged bear grew in size as did the vinegar, but the vinegar bear is a lot more eroded. πŸ§‘‍πŸ”¬
Junior Infants had lots of fun mixing elements to create different reactions during Science Week. They made an egg float, created some very sticky slime, made some raisins dance and caused a cola explosion. #scienceweek

To cap off the day, they created beautiful clay pendants, each imprinted with natural objects they had gathered. #biodiversity #woods 🌲
